The Old Man of Storr

The Old Man of Storr is a large pinnacle of rock that stands high on the Isle of Skye and can be seen for miles and the trek to the 'Old Man' is one of the most popular walks on the island.

The Storr is prime example of the Trotternish landslip, the longest such feature in the UK. The area in front of the cliffs of the Storr is known as the Sanctuary and features a number of weirdly shaped rock pinnacles, the remnants of ancient landslips.

This photograph dates from July 2010 when we spent two weeks on the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Skye - blessed with some beautiful weather.
