The Anticipation

I carefully handle my new, fifty year old camera.

We are in lockdown. Confined to the city with no access to the coast or the countryside.

Together with a tripod and light meter I venture out for the first time, to my local park.

It is a location I know well, but today it is an entirely new experience.

I begin exploring compositions, looking down through the beautiful viewfinder.

Removing the dark slide, I lock the mirror up, fire the shutter and wind on the film.

The sound that everyone talks about.

I repeat the process twelve times before removing the film and delivering it to a local lab to be developed and scanned.

The Anticipation.
