Morning Promise

The combination of a dreadful summer and a good forecast resulted in a 3.45am alarm call and drive down to the northern end of the Lake District.

This photograph was taken at the pier located on the eastern side of Derwent Water, close to the southern end of the lake.

Arriving half an hour before sunrise there were a number of other photographers already there but we found a spot as we waited for the sun. Shortly before the sun peaked over the hills there was a beautiful ripple effect of clouds in the sky.

Unfortunately these vanished just as the sun lit up the sky leaving only a handful of clouds to catch the morning sun.

Even without the rippling clouds it was a beautiful morning and a great trip to the Lakes.

Photography is my passion. I love being outside, camera set up, waiting on the first light of the day.
